Women lead in diverse ways. One common thread for women is our role as nurturers. Our job, no matter what our stage or status in life, is to nurture and educate. Every day I see women who guide and direct the course of action of others. What makes direct selling women leaders?
We have a responsibility to show that women can and do lead in both similar and different ways from men and these differences should be valued. Here are a few examples.
Women lead so that their children, friends family and themselves will have a better world.
What makes direct selling women leaders? In just these few examples, you can see that women's experience in nurturing and education are common threads. Women lead so that their children, friends, family and themselves will have a better world. They lead so they can have time and flexibility to work with these relationships. Women are expected to educate. Again, you can see that in this ability to educate from a 'let's all move forward on this' perspective, rather than a 'here is how you should do it.' Lastly women seek out jobs that allow them to help others, like teachers, nurses etc. None of these differences are a matter of having a different chromosome set. The difference comes in how we are socialized. Women can and do lead effectively.
Our industry is unique. The sheer numbers speak for themselves. Approximately 75% of direct sellers are women. Over 90% of party plan sellers are women. Women seem drawn to direct selling. We have a fantastic opportunity to see a wide variety of women leaders occurring in direct selling because we have a large percentage in this business. In other industries women leaders are isolated from each other. In our industry, women teach each other, seek out each other, and care for each other. Please keep me informed of those successful leaders of all kinds.
